Containers For Change
In 2021 Substation33 established a partnership with Containers for Change Qld (COEX), whose mission is to eliminate drink container litter from the Queensland environment and landfill, while simultaneously creating fundraising opportunities for community groups and other not-for-profit organisations.
In 2022 we opened our second Substation33 site (affectionately named "Canstation" by our staff), with the primary purpose of processing containers, and in doing so created more jobs in order to keep the facility operating almost 24/7.
Within 3 months of operation 5.5 million containers have been processed (and therefore kept from landfill) and that number will increase substantially in the future.
The partnership with COEX has facilitated more opportunities for Substation33 to fulfill its mission to reduce waste going to landfill and help marginalised and disenfranchised, long-term unemployed people to build skills, confidence and stamina to ready them for suitable employment.
At the moment we are not accepting public drop-offs of containers, but we are open to collecting commercial sized loads. Contact us if you have questions.
